Edit function not working?

I've tried to edit a few posts today. The change either doesn't take, or some of the text disappears entirely from the "edited" version when I repost. This has happened in Safari and in Firefox. Is this a known glitch-of-the-day?

Hi Carol -

It's actually saying that because you're changing the URL. The title of the post is what the URL uses.

Aside from that, the only other suggestions I have are to either not edit posts and just start new ones (that would solve the issue of the edit not taking and/or the edit date not showing) or add a date to the part you are editing in the post and make it more prominent (such as making the text larger and/or bold).

I'm not sure how much attention is paid to the edit dates at the bottom of the posts. By that point you've already read the post, kwim?

Thanks and have a great weekend!

ANY changes to subject lines tend to cause the editor function to freak out and FINDING that thread can be an issue: the "this thread cannot be found"  message pops up at the same timea s the "this post has been edited" --- no bread crumb trail so you have to back up to the last time you had the board up and it is PRE-edit so you don't really know for a time, sometimes hours, if that thread was lost or not. Tried that once --- never again.

Also, a small nit to pick but... on some threads, when I edit, it NEVER shows up as a date change on the main board. Case in point --- I have an quilting freebie thread that still says it was last modified on April 13 but when I open that thread, the last post in line shows an edit done on April 28... Kind of hard for a boardie (assuming I HAD any boardies any more) to KNOW I posted something there if the date shows it's two weeks old!

Hi Carol -

That is related to the current bug of the edit line not always showing. What about adding the date in the subject when you edit?

Same for me, Tracy --- at least two times to get an edit to stitck and esidted posts (if not the OP) move to become the most recent in the thread.

I don't think this is an issue just limited to yesterday. Edit has not worked for me since the fatal software change 7 months ago. I have to edit, post the corrections, see that they do not take, and make the changes again. Usually the second time I post the changes they stick.

What I really hate (there is a very long list but I am limiting it to this one thing for now) is that when I do get an edit to take, it makes my post show as the latest post in a thread. If I have posted, and someone comments on my post, it looks jacked up to have it out of chronological order.

Hi Tracy,

I don't experience that myself, but in all honesty I very rarely edit. I'll send this along and see what I can find out.

I think we all agree on the second part. I know it's on the list of wishes to get that fixed.

Thanks, Tracy. I know it's frustrating.

Hi,

There was an issue yesterday with lagging, so it could be part of that. I'll do some testing on my end as well. Can you let me know if you're still seeing this today?

Thanks!
