I just noticed on the main board page that there is a new channel... iVillage en espanol.  Am I just seeing this or is it new?

No, it doesn't help. If my closet is full and I can't add any new clothes to it, I purge what I'm not wearing anymore so that things fit. If I buy even more clothes to add to that closet that's already so full that it doesn't function, I'm going to make the problem worse, not better. The point is to get rid of things. WHY are you adding new clothes to the closet before the old ones are purged? Nothing makes sense anymore. I've been here a long time, and I have to say that there was a time when I didn't feel like things were so secretive and ridiculously run. I never felt lied to, or deceived, or diminished. About the time the L&S channel started getting messed with, all of the deception started. I'm guessing whoever started that fiasco is responsible for this mess as well.

Hi,

I'm sorry it doesn't help. I've passed along your comments.

Hi Donna,

No problem. :)

I don't have any numbers on how many of who/what there is and what they are in charge of handling, etc. I do know there are different divisions, and it would be editorial that creates content, not tech.

I'll definitely keep sharing when I can and I'll pass along your feelings about the new espanol section and tech as well.

Thanks,

Hi, Donna.

I want to clear up a misconception about what it takes to start new content on the boards. It doesn't take any tech resources to open another channel. It's a process built into the tools that we admins have available to us. Just as I've started new boards since the migration (ex: new expecting clubs, boards for community challenges), I'm able to start a new channel. It doesn't involve a minute of their time.

Hi, Shy.

Actually we are purging. Right?

Adding the new channel doesn't slow down the system nearly as much as more than a decade of data that no one accesses.

Sorry that the wait is frustrating, but they have to finish testing the scripts in QA before they run them on the live site. After that, we'll get back to scheduling fixes. On that note, there's no conspiracy here. I and the Moderators are in the same boat as you -- we're being told to wait for what we want, just like everyone else. I'm just trying to stay out of their way / help them as much as I can, so they can wrap this up and we can move on.

Thanks!

Hello Tech CM Erin,

I can only deduct from your comments that none of the real ongoing issues,   which would enable cl's & board members to function, not to mention all input that has been reported since October, are actually not being worked on?     I get the feeling that most of the energy /manpower that should be being utilized into getting the site up and running efficiently is being pushed aside while other more "important things" aka new channels is the focus of iVillage.  While it is not a bad idea to include that particular channel or any new channel, why is it that iVillage would choose to launch it NOW , when the entire site isn't running properly or anywhere near user friendly? What will new members who want to join in think, how will they navigate around all the  problems we have here at this time?  Fix existing problems , then launch new channel but that's water under the bridge now.

I suppose this next point could be debated and I'm sure MUCH time was utilized in the design .....  but here goes:    The new "iVillage en Espanol" channel:  nice idea and clever that it is included.  I might even join in myself at some time,  but am just wondering why the name of the channel is "ivillage in spanish"  when the introduction is more "Spanglish" than Spanish? Actually it's in English with a few Spanish words thrown in for effect or it just looks like that on my monitor?  ;O)

Have a nice day.
