I know that we don't have the feature of the page opening to the unread posts in a thread. However I'm having an issue that when I open a thread for the first time the page automatically jumps to the first reply, not the original post. So then I have to scroll back up to read the OP. When I've already viewed the OP and I'm trying to read new replies it opens to the OP. I don't seem to have my preferences set to jump to unread posts (actually I still can't change my settings because of the "email already taken" error message) so I'm wondering if the opening at the second post is a system default? This has been going on for weeks. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Also, about 10 days ago I posted asking if we can turn off signatures here and didn't get a reply. Does anybody have an answer to this?

I realize that neither of these issues are as important as some of the problems like browsers not working and mobile access, but they are annoying and detract from the board experience. I thinking that iV probably wants to optimize the experience for those who can access the boards?

I have the same problem with what post a thread opens to... sometimes it's the OP (especially if it's an older thread) adn sometimes it's the latest post (espcially if its a new thread I haven't opened yet). This seems to be a persistant irritant adn especially bad with LONG threads, IMO. Especially when there's no way to tell which are the postss one hasn't read yet in a thread!

And I sure do hope they fix that "email taken" thing as I can't change my preferences either! The only solution provided so far is to set up a new email but I don't know where to find that now --- and besides, I'm not sure I WANT a new email on my account. I have enough email accounts as it is to confuse even the most organized poster...

Hi there! Thanks so much for being this to our attention. I hadn't noticed it myself, probably because I usually have a number of windows open and just assume I'd scrolled down. But when I read your post, I gave it a shot and yes, it does seem to be jumping down to the first response; at least it is for me in FF.

I'll pass that along, as well as your question about turning off signatures. I'll see what I can find out for you. Thanks so much for your patience!

Following up... I wasn't able to turn off siggies either, after testing in a number of browsers, so I added that issue, along with the one about the page jumping to first reply to the list. And again, thanks for reporting it!

Thank you Bren, for jumping on those problems.

When I first tried to reply to you it was in Quick Reply and I got an error message of: "The form has become outdated. Copy any unsaved work in the form below and then reload this page". (I took a screen shot of it but it doesn't replicate the error message.) This is not the first time that I've gotten that error message and I don't think its only in Quick Reply. There is no "form below" in which to copy anything so basically the reply gets disappeared...although it looks like it posted successfully with Quick Reply and Reply buttons under the message. I had not left the text box open for a long time so it shouldn't have become "outdated" yet. So, I guess I'm reporting another problem...sorry about that!

Thank you, and the other CMs, and CD Jess for all of your help in the past weeks.

Hi, Elspeth. I noticed the same thing with jumping to the first reply as well. I know the quick reply just isn't working like it should, and it's something they've got on the list of items to fix. I really am sorry. I know it's frustrating when you are expecting things like this to work. We are trying to get it fixed.

Elspeth, issues with Quick Reply have been noted; it's been hit or miss with me, too although I tend to use reply just out of habit! Wink

And please, there is no need to apologize for reporting another issue; we are extremely grateful that you all care enough to take the time to share your experiences, good and bad! It's way easier to just walk away when something goes wrong, so it's a definite measure of how much you all really care about our communities that you take the time and effort to go that extra mile. And I can't express how very much that means to our Mod team. As we go through good times and bad, knowing that we're working together to overcome whatever obstacles we encounter -- to me, that's a super amazing feeling that has always been uniquely iVillage.

I've noticed this issue for a week or two, as well.  It's very annoying, especially since there's no way of knowing if a post is unread or not.
