Hi, everyone.
I know I haven't posted an update in quite some time. Unfortunately, there's not much to report. Here's why:
When the boards started experiencing slowness -- pages taking forever to load, pages timing out and failing, etc. -- that became the top priority for the tech team. Shortly after they started investigating, it was brought to our attention that the slowness on the boards was slowing down the rest of the site as well. What started out as a message boards fix turned into a site-wide fix, with many more moving parts to take into account.
They're still working on these issues, including the login & posting failures. (The two issues are related, turns out.)
One small fix did go through though -- they raised the character limit for signatures from 255 to 1000. I bet many of you have seen signatures showing up again?
I'm getting an update from the tech team about the login/posting bug this morning, and I'm meeting with the higher-ups (all of them) at iVillage on Wednesday. We need a final solution to all of the issues we're having -- everyone here agrees on this. We can't keep going the way we are, and we know it. Should be an interesting meeting!

Jess, its good to see you back and thanks for the update. Even though its not really anything new I think that it does help to see an explanation at regular intervals. And I was not aware that the entire site was being affected---what a tech nightmare! I have reposted your message on my board so my boardies know what's going on.
It was also great to see that several CMs were here responding this morning too. I'm crossing my fingers that there will be some good news soon.

Well, my signature isn't working... and I still have that email already taken so I can't tweak it either.
Note the little blue quotation mark after CL of? That's linkable and all that shows of the words "Stitcher's Niche" with a hot link. When my signature got trasnfered, only the code for the url made it and the words are gone. Decorating and Home Improvement isn't even in the picture... and I can't add it either.

I have the same thing going on when I try to edit my prefernces Carol. When I click "save" then it says that my email addy is already taken and nothing will save. I'm afraid to mess with my signature as I may not have anything.
Thanks for the update Jess. It sounds like they have quite a mess on their hands still and a big job to get everything working right. I hope the Wednesday meeting is very productive so we can have the boards working right once again.

I'm glad you're not seeing the ads! That was deliberate and done in response to requests to have the ads removed from the mobile option.
As Jess said, iVillage is fully invested in fixing the issues, and our tech team is working full-time on it. She'll continue to update as she has more information. (I don't work in the office, so I won't be there to share info myself.)
