Hi, everyone.

I wanted to let you know where we are on a few items: the project to delete old threads, and other message board-related fixes coming soon.

You may have noticed, we’re still waiting on the deletion project to happen. iVillage is in the process of moving hosting companies, and our database guys are focused on that right now. We don't want to run the deletion script without them babysitting it...too risky. I’ve asked our GM and CTO when they expect the deletions to begin (they know it's causing other boards fixes and projects to be delayed) and when they give me a date, I'll give it to you.

In the meantime, I'm making sure that some of our message board fixes get into the workflow. This week, the team is cleaning up a bunch of 404 errors (page not found) coming from message board links promoted around the site. This is important because it impacts our effectiveness in Google. After that, they'll be fixing 2 tools that Mods and Admins require, and they'll be restoring post counts on the Category page. These fixes will take us through the middle of March. We haven't had planning meetings for the two code releases that will happen in April, but I'll definitely be requesting 3-5 additonal fixes there. I'm happy we're still able to move forward with these!

Once I know a) when the deletion project will start or b) which fixes will be worked on in April, I'll post another update.

...keep going!

Although I am just as frustrated as everyone else, I wanted to say that CM Jen has been great at replying to my e-mails promptly.  Although they can do things that we can't, if a feature is missing, like notifications, it doesn't work for them, either.

I asked Jen for help and she put one of my posts on the main iVillage page.  Granted, it didn't do any good, but I respect that she put in the effort.

From my perspective, getting (or should I say not getting) notifications has been a HUGE reason for the lack of participation.  I am unsure of all of the avenues we usually get new posters from, but clearly that is not working well, either.  Which is possibly why some of these other iVillage fixes are taking priority.  I don't know.

So the big download, or whatever it is that we were told would take weeks and nothing can be fixed until it is run, still hasn't even started yet?   UGH!  We are edging close to 6 months of error riddled software and it's still full of errrors.

Hi, Susan

Obviously, I'm not Jess but I've not heard of any new updates since the last one. I think there's just been nothing else to share as we wait on word that there has been progress/changes. If I hear any different though, I'll come back and update.

Thank you..

It's been 3 weeks are there any additional updates?  Jessica was bold with her posts and then has since disappeared...what is going on?

There are people that have dates that are not correct (mostly it's us old-timers—mine is off as well). I don't know if it's something fixable or when it would be looked at, but I know it is on the list and they are aware of it.

I've been an iVillage member since it was on AOL many moons ago.  Also used to be a CL here.  Just a brief question, why doesn't my profile show how long I've really been registered?  I know I started here at least in 2000, if not earlier?

I wanted to jump in to say that we have said sorry -- maybe not in the same format you mention, but we have apologized for inconveniences and delays. I know that in the end, that really doesn't change anything, but we've been right there with you in sadness over resigning community leaders and members who have gone elsewhere.

(And I'll work on removing CL status, Lady..we're sorry to see you go!)

Jessica is fairly new to iVillage..... if I recall correct she came in after the last disaster "upgrade" and I guess that's been no more then two years ago or less. Hope that helps answer your question.

This makes me so sad, all these people that I don't necessarily know, but I have known their names for years bailing out.   Pathetic.   Not their decisions, but the circumstances that drove them to it.

You know, a simple "we are sorry" would have gone a long way here.   But there has never been close to an admission that this change is a huge fail.

That was my interpretation of that comment as well and it makes me both angry and sad.  This used to be a great site that I rushed home to hop on to see what was new, referred friends for advice, learned new things, and shared plenty of giggles.  Now it isn't any of those things, the technical difficulties are making it worse, and there is just a general sense that we aren't wanted here.  That doesn't work for me so I too am stepping down.  Please remove my community leader privileges and title.  Good luck to those of you who decide to stick around.
