Logging In and Other Issues

Good morning!

I wanted to take a poll, if you have time? I'd like to know what problems -- after clearing cache and starting over to be sure any old issues no longer show -- you're still experiencing in the boards. We've made some fixes and we'd like to know what you're still seeing to fine-tune our list and focus.

For example, sig lines used to be a big issue. Now, many of us (most of us?) are able to update them. We've also made headway with our profanity filter and logging-in.

One thing I did want to suggest about logging in is this -- when you click to sign in, I know it's a pain, but give it a minute or two before you give up. Likely due to the size of our data files, it takes a minute or so before the log-in click syncs up with our boards, so it won't look like you're signed in until you give it a minute for the screen to refresh. At first, it looks like you're not signed-in and you still see the options to sign in at the right and at the top, but if you can wait and let it cycle through, you should end up logged-in.

Thanks for taking the time to keep us in the loop. Whatever we learn here will be passed along, so please include your browser versions and any other details that may help.

Donna

Well wonders never cease: a note/update from someone ......

honestly, from what I experience and what my boardies are still experiencing not much has been accomplished if at all. No siggies are appearing, unending log in issues still prevail, having posts sort and stick newest to oldest still not working,  not having post pop to the top, not being able to find other posts or new posts without going into the "see all posts on boards" and then scrolling,  shall I continue?  Most of all the "old issues" still show.  I for one do not see any or not much progress on anything and it's still as discouraging now  to come to ivillage as it was the end of October.  Boards are dead.

When you say, "thank you for keeping us in the loop",,, all I can say is that every ivillage cl and many boardies (non cl's ) have been trying to "keep you in the loop" since this change happened in October.  It is us that has been kept "out of the loop" , left hanging, wondering, waiting etc.    If you go back to the original threads reporting the problems, you'll find that not that much has changed,,,   I would not spend one more second rehashing problems on the boards, so many.    Ivillage is so far from "fine tuning" it's ridiculous and we all had hoped that thus far iviillage was focused on the problems : guess not.  What is it then that was being focused on other than the tremendous amount of data that according to this thread is still a problem.

Perhaps you could just tell us what fixes have been made, then we don't have yet one more thing to do  on boards that aren't yet working yet properly. Who will find replies , as usual it's too time consuming to scroll thru the replies to find anything...    IMHO that would be more helpful .

 This is all so discouraging..........................

Every morning I open up my board and it shows I am logged in, but when I go to start a thread, I am not logged in any longer and taken to the log in screen.  I log in and then it takes me to a "cannot find page" page, so I have to loop back to my board again, wait however long for it to log me in again, and then post a comment or new discussion thread.  Sometimes it does it on the first try after that, sometimes even after waiting, I still have to wait for a bit.

Quick reply only works some of the time and is very frustrating.  IV have eaten several of my posts this week and while I know its easy to copy a post before you hit post so if it eats it yet again you can just paste, I don't always think about that or have the time to do it before posting especially if I'm in a hurry and already spent 10 minutes trying to get logged in.

Constantly being logged out, I have to relog in it seems like anytime I leave my browser alone for a matter of time and then bring it back up to do a post.

Tuesday and Wednesday 75% of the time I would post and then go to another board and my internet browser couldn't open up the baords at all.  It was happening on IE, Firefox and Safari, I did all the normal stuff and I still was having trouble accessing the boards at all.  It has happened once today already.

That's all I can think of at this moment, I am sure I will come back with more later.  Oh wait, let me copy this so that if IV eats it for a 3rd time it will eventually get posted!

Hi Donna,

I am still having logging in problems and I just did when I wanted to come here. But it did work better than usual. I have also had problems with posting the same message more than once because of the slowness. I guess you could say that is my fault because I thought it wasn't going to post and so I told it to do it again and low and behold I got it twice! I don't know how to remove a post anymore either.

I just so hope all this gets straightened out soon. I miss my boardies and my friends! I haven't tried doing anything with my siggy so I have no idea about that.

Like the others (and as I posted in another thread already this morning) I am not seeing any changes or improvements.  If anything things have been loading more slowly for me (only on IV) than before. Other than that everything else has remained the same.

Hi, Mary Frances -- you still won't be able to remove a post, as only the mods can, but if you have a duplicate, you can flag it and/or the mod will remove it as she sees it anyway. I think waiting a bit before clicking again should resolve that though. (Once our data is downsized, that hopefully will go away as it's likely due to the size of everything and them not syncing.) We want it straightened out soon, too! I know it's frustrating but thank you for hanging with us!

In re: to keeping us in the loop - you've always all been fantastic about that. I just was thanking you again :)

Have a good day...

And just now when I went to post this edited version, it put up the original post instead.  So yeah, things are definitely NOT IMPROVING around here.

Arryl, thank you! I appreciate the details. Those help immensely. When we're unable to replicate something, those types of descriptions give us a lot more to pass to the tech team so they know where to look more specifically.

Lag with logging in but as you mentioned if I wait out the process it usually takes within 30 seconds or so. Search function issue- tried to find posts with my screen name, only 16 showed up so as others have said I had to scroll and search manually. Older messages have lost content.

And using quick reply bunched everything together and didn't have the spacing I had placed in the text editor so I'm not sure if that is just a function of quick reply or not.
