Members still having trouble logging in
| Mon, 02-18-2013 - 8:23am |
This member has tried everything that she's been told to try. Here's her comment:
"I tried logging in at the top by going to the main IVillage page and it does recognize me there, but as soon as I get to the boards, it doesn't know me and I get the unauthorized comment. If I use Firefox, it still gets the unauthorized comment but then after a few seconds it takes me to add new comment. DH said he updated our virus software, but I wouldn't think that would affect my ability to log in?"
I still have trouble logging in myself.
Some days I just give up and other days I keep trying.
It is sometimes really slow loading and I believe it is kicking us off every now and again to...
I am using Firefox.
Usually Quick Links do not work for me...I kept my old username and password was not giving that up...;)...
Sometimes when I go to a board I am not signed in and have to sign in again...
Most days now I can get in with maybe three tries or less.
I have a similar issue adn I don't think it's virus protection either. I have my name and password saved with the box to keep me logged in checked, and iVillage seems to kick me off daily. And sometimes it takes several attempts to get the log-in to stick. Also, I can log in here and I will NOT be logged in on my own boards (that never used to happen --- log in once and you were logged in everythwere...)...

I usually get the "not authorized" message but wait it out---the page will refresh by itself and then recognize me.
I also get logged out a lot even though I always click the "keep me logged in" box. Often I'll get logged out when moving between boards: I'll post on one board then when I try to post on another it will log me out.
Hi All!
Sue, can you have her email me at techtalk@mail.ivillage.com please?
All: What you've all mentioned is stuff we're aware of. The logging in and getting not authorized and then refreshing and being recognized is due to the slowness (I know you don't want to hear that, but unfortunately, it is the reason). The system is lagging and when it tries to let you post, it can't because it hasn't logged you in *just* yet. The refresh and then the ability to post is the system finally logging you in.
I know I've seen a few of you mention the logging in two or three times before it takes. If you log in and wait a few moments, does it take on it's own? Or are you just hitting sign-in again immediately?

Personally, I find that waiting does me no good. And if I try to post, it takes me right back to the log-in...

Erin, I understand that its taking a long time to recognize that the member is logged in. But what about the issue of the system logging us out, sometimes repeatedly, during a session? I know that "they" are aware of the problem but is there any explanation for it?
Also, its been a month since Jess gave us an status report. I imagine that something in the way of progress has occured in that time---can we please get an update? Even if there's not much to report. And just wondering, but will the sale to Comcast have any effect on iVillage?
Erin, I posted and asked her to email you.

Erin, I have tried the wait a few minutes, wait an hour, try right away methods. It seems to be a random thing to me.
IMHO, I think at this point it would be better to just go with something else. There is only so much water you can bail out of a sinking ship before you become swamped and go down.
Erin, here is my typical pattern for signing in.
I was not signed in when I read through this thread. When I wanted to respond I clicked on the "Reply" option. I got the sign in blocks. I signed in. I got the "Not Authorized to Post Comments" selection in red across the top of the page. I wait to see if that will go away on it's own. It does not. I am back to the same view as I had before, asking me to sign in.
I sign in a second time. This time the screen looks like it's working, but instead of a page where I can post comments I get a blank page. See screen shot.

I have to exit out of the site and come back in. Logging in, attempt #3. This time usually works. I log in, wait about 5 seconds, and there I am. Exhausting.
