Profanity filter - are you kidding?!

Twice in the last 24 hours I've been alerted that I have "inappropriate language" in my posts.  The offending words apparently were "f@rting" (a word in every elementary school kid's vocabulary) and "libid0" - on the Mismatched Libid0s board!  And YES, I had to type those words with @ and 0.  Someone, please do something.  This is ridiculous!  Can't even imagine that they're able to discuss anything on the Sex boards!

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know about your experience with the filter. We're aware that it's, unfortunately, being overzealous. It's not our intention to block those words, by any means, and the tech team is aware that it's causing issues for our users.

Thank you,

Erin

And in the meantime, I see that "shit" goes right on through...... now, don't reprimand me for this, I am just curious to see what is NOT getting filtered.

tit and fag are still making it, but I guess the good news is that the f-bomb, pu_ _ _ , the n-word and fag_ _ _ and cu _ _ didn't make it.

I saw the F word and sh*t go through through in the same post somewhere recently, which surprised me. But these days every post holds a surprise...can I log in? am I authorized to post? will it go through?

Try using the proper name for all the Hostess products.   They are all inappropriate.

Please flag any posts you see that have language that actually is inappropriate so we can remove them.

Thank you!

Actually no.  Fix the censor.  Fix it to 22nd century English not 1900.  Most of the adults write in stream of conciness and the censor does not underline or otherwise tell the writer what is "wrong".  This is one of the reason the boards are in trouble.  The censor really needs updating.  Not everybody is in a mood to find a alternate word for commomn usage becase some nit is censoring.

I am on boards world wide.  Some words in English are tonal and that does excuse the censor as the tone makes such a difference.

I do apologize for the inconvenience, and have forwarded your suggestion to highlight the censored words. That would make it a lot easier. The filter will be fixed, but in the meantime, we would appreciate being notified of any posts with profanity that have slipped through.

Hi..

To reiterate what Evelyn has said, the censor is out of whack, and its repair is not something within our power. Until it is (trust us, we want it fixed too!) please don't use the board as a test zone; we still believe in vulgarity not having a place on our boards, even if we are unable to have the technology functioning properly that allows it.

Thank you..

Donna

I was unable to update my post on one of the affairs boards because the word "s3x" was in there. Also when I used the word "p3riod" in the gynecology forum your filter jumped on me. Please get this fixed so I can communciate properly on my usual boards again.
