This is what worked for me

From Google Chrome, I could not get into my preferences...well, I could get in, but when I clicked on anything, I watched the circle go around and around and around 'til it brought me eventually to 'aw snap'....'kill pages'.

I had to start from scratch by creating a new email account...I think that was the ticket...starting the new email account.  And then creating a new ivillage account...had to tweek my name just a little.  And bing bada bing!  I can now get into my preferences.  I loaded my Avatar, popped in a siggie, set it up so new posts go to top of the page.
