When is a board considered dead?

Just wondering, since there is so little activity on many of the boards except for the few of us that are desperately hanging on trying to keep them up and running.  But just wondering when it's time to throw in the towel and call it quits.  My board only had one other poster besides me and a CM last month, but then this month that poster left and different one came back (but still has only posted once).

I'm willing to keep going, but feel a bit ridiculous chatting to myself all the time on my board (and a few others).

Hi..

I want to tell you first that I appreciate all you're doing -- all that ALL of you CLs are doing. I know it's no easy feat to try to drum up communication when we're facing some of the issues we're dealing with. I also know it's disheartening, and I thank you for sticking it out as you have.

While we're going through this period of repair, we're not designating any board "dead." Typically, a board that's slow is only merged or closed after a long period of time where we see that it no longer fits a need in the community. We can't make that determination of any of our boards while we're still facing posting issues.

Again, thank you -- and our entire team of CLs -- for all you've done, and all you continue to do.

It is hard.

Like having a one-sided conversation...;)...

Try to hang in there!

One thing I use to LOVE is we had those little caps on when we were CL and we didn't wear them posting on other Boards.

Now I think it must be difficult trying to figure out who our CL's are...kwim?

I see a few familiar faces but I to sometimes feel LOST...:(...

Don't want our Boards to die.

I have been here forever...:)

Thanks Donna for sharing that!

It's much appreciated.

I know I have Posters who lurk but it's still nice to know no decisions will be made to ALL of the issues are fixed.

I am sure some have left because of things not working...:(...

I also have two boards that, at any other time, would be considered "dead"....but I'm trying to hang in there.  My problem, up to today, was that I couldn't even post a new discussion so, even if I wanted to, I couldn't correspond with any poster who happened by.  But I'm not giving up....I've been a CL for a very long time and those boards mean a lot to me.....

Thank you for that!! So glad to hear you're not giving up! (And neither are we -- the mods and I are SO looking forward to the days when we can start seeing everyone post again, where we can all interact like before.) Thanks for hanging with us!

I'm looking forward to the boards working properly again...hopefully soon.  I've been here 15 years and no place else has every felt like home.

We're looking forward to it too! (And I know what you mean -- this year marks #17 with iVillage and I totally agree, nothing else feels like home!)

Have a good day!

I have turned in my resignation.  iVillage has changed the board format so many times, it's just disheartening.  I think this has been the worst change yet. I can't even get email from anyone that posts a reply.

Hi Theresa,

I got your email and I have replied. I know you're frustrated about the changes but I really hate to see you step down. I'd love to discuss this further if you want to email or PM me.

As Erin said, the email notification issue is something we are all dealing with right now but it is on the list of things to be fixed once the main problem is solved.  I don't know if this would help you or not but I have bookmarked all my fav boards and click through once or twice a day to check for new replies. It's a little easier than searching every time.
