They were on the plane and then the plane was brought back and they were taken off the plane. That's not from "overbooking."

Captain James Ray has just as much information as we do and is completely speculating when he claims "I can promise you the captain didn't throw those people off because of the way they were dressed."

Again, these guys were screened twice and the pilot wouldn't let them fly, but the airlines did let them fly on another flight. That indicates it is a problem with the pilot, not any security risks, etc.

Even the Imam's lawyer hasn't jumped to the conclusions you have, and his job is to advocate for them.

It the pilot violated civil rights, he likely will be fired and sued. If he was following homeland security or other lawful directions it is possible he did nothing wrong. We will have answers eventually. So many seem to want to jump to conclusions without hearing from all parties on an issue. I prefer to wait if possible and see what can be learned.

Oh, I have no problem waiting to see how this shakes out. I'm basing my suppositions on the fact that they weren't "bumped" because they were on the plane and the plane was on the runway when it went back and the men were removed. I'm basing my suppositions on the fact that they were screened twice and not allowed on the plane, but were given a different flight. Sure, I'll wait and see how this shakes out to see if my suppositions were correct or not.

Even I was surprised at my anger when re-reading my post. I used to be one to stand up for Muslims, but I'm losing my patience. It's too bad that some of them are being discriminated against, but I'm finding I no longer care very much. And yes, if another religious group's extremists were blowing up airplanes or crashing them, then I'd probably be ok with discriminating against them, too. If the pilot's story of doing so was because he thought other passengers would be uncomfortable, well, I'm not too keen on that. Otherwise, if he had a gut feeling something was wrong and didn't want to fly them, I'd be ok with that. Does that make good sense? I'm sure not.

What does clothing have to do with judging someone? A terrorist doesn't necessarily have to wear Muslim clothing! They could wear those gawd-awful 'pants on the ground' & fit right in! Should we all be required to wear the same clothing styles so that no one feels uncomfortable?

And how do you know if they spoke up or not? Or what they've said at all? Honestly, flying with Sarah Palin would make me more nervous than flying with either of those men. ;)

I haven't seen any Muslims dressed in baggy pants. And I don't know.. but I'd be fairly suspicious if I saw a few boarding a plane at the same time. And for your "honest" Sarah Palin remark, I can't stand her, but you're making no sense now. <

This isn't worth it. Ivillage somehow cut off the last part of my post. Everyday it's something new on ivillage. Rarely can make paragraphs, edit, and is slower than all get out. I don't have these problems with any other site I go to. I'm not in the mood to fight ivillage, and extension debate ya'll, cause what's the point? They proved they don't care at all with this new format, and all the problems some of us have.

You missed my point....terrorists can be wearing any kind of clothing. In fact, I would think that they would prefer to blend in rather than stand out, don't you? Alone or in a small group...a terrorist can still complete their mission.

Hence the 'wink'...Sarah Palin makes me ill - therefore I'd hate to be stuck in an airplane with her for any length of time! IMHO, she may just bring down the 'wrath' of HER god & the plane would get hit with a lightning bolt! LOL!

Both of the men in question are longtime residents of the area. They seem to be well thought of in their community. What gives the pilot the right to determine that just because someone is dressed a certain way, they can't fly on his plane? Does he inspect every passenger who boards to be sure that they might not 'upset' the other passengers?
