Amanda Knox Verdict

It's going to be announced at 3:30pm est. ANyone have any feelings on it? I have a hard time believing she knows nothing about it, but the DNA evidence didn't seem super-strong either.

I hadn't really given it much thought until a few months ago, when I read an Italian prosecutor had filed 300+ charges, against a couple of scientists who had failed to predict a deadly earthquake.

Now I have serious doubts about what's happened in the Knox case.

Verdict is in - her murder conviction was overturned.

I haven't followed all of the details of the case, on CNN they are saying there are protests going on outside the courthouse. In reading and hearing some of the information though, I really don't know what to think about her innocence or guilt.

I think Amanda Knox had something to do with Meredith Kercher's death.

As someone who lives in Puget Sound area, I've followed it from the beginning. I joking said because she is UofDub dawg she must of done it {I'm a Washington State University mom, very huge instate rivalry between the 2 schools} but I didn't beleive she had done it. The evidence was piss poor & shoddy at best. The DA a joke who made up stuff. I'm glad she is on her way back to Seattle where according to what I've read/heard from Peter Van Sant a CBS new report for 48 hours who did a great piece on all of this {and he's also from Seattle} that everyone in Seattle practice dark arts, well if that were true that stupid DA would be dead already. Just saying.

Why? The evidence doesn't hold up. There was NONE OF Amanda's DNA in the murder room, don't know about you~but I'm sure my DNA is in every room that is in my house except my sister's room because I just don't go in there.

Also from Seattle & I tried very hard to keep an open mind during everything...but the evidence just didn't add up. Plus, the forensics were very poorly handled & that's the only evidence they had. She & Rafael should never have been convicted in the first place. The Prosecutor in the first trial was known to be after higher office (it was all political to him)...I think he was either removed from the Prosecutor's office or something else (I can't remember) after that trial.

The Prosecutor in this trial spread all kinds of lies - like if Amanda was released that her parents had secret plans to whisk her away & hide her! IMHO, the Prosecutor was desperate to win the case irregardless of innocence or guilt. And now he's going to protest the decision. Doesn't Italy have enough other problems? Or is it that this is bringing in so much attention for those involved in the prosecution that they don't want to see it end?

The losers in all of this are Amanda, Rafael & Meredith Kercher (sp?). Instead of focusing on finding out who really murdered Meredith, the Italian authorities are focused on just Amanda & Rafael - whom they have no viable evidence against.

I better be careful...if the Italian authorities read this, I might be charged with slander! ;) And I really want to go to Italy to visit my relatives there!

I can't judge this case, as the evidence was presented to the local court and not entirely televised in the U.S. I am not fluent in Italian.

Overall, the Italian justice system seems to work. From what I've heard, it seems interesting. I like the idea of someone helping to guide jurors. Though maybe not the lead judge, perhaps appoint counsel or a retired judge with no voting authority to help guide jurors regarding issues of law.

Sure we can. I have no doubt that Casey Anthony knew of the killing of her child and hiding the body. I can do that, no matter what the jury said.

As just evidenced yesterday in Texas, a man doing life for murdering his wife is about to be released after 25 years. So far there appears to be 6 separate instances where the DA's office withheld evidence from the defense that probably would have radically changed the outcome. Such as failure to let them know someone was running around using her credit card and cashing checks stolen from her.

We "are" allowed to sit back and judge any criminal justice system, cause if we don't, who will?

Does your statement extend to all countries and their local courts?
