It's a nice thought, a nice campaign sound bite, but I don't think it's realistic.

Good tricky, not possible.

Instead the focus should be on cars that doesn't need oil as fuel, something that is renewal and safe for the environment.

Exactly. It is being worked on though. The battery type cars only store enough power for a limited number of miles. People drive a great many miles here in the US & most places have limited or no public transportation unlike cities in Europe.

They are installing 'charging stations' in parking lots around here. I've seen several Nissan Leaf's in our neighborhood alone. Plus, the City of Seattle has gone to a hybrid and/or all-electric fleet. BUT in this area, electricity is cheap in comparison to other parts of the country. I can see how it will be a little more difficult for some areas to make this change.

Know when the first electric cars were invented?

I live in Connecticut in a rural/suburban area & there's zero public transportation. Hartford, the capital, has buses but I have no idea if the service is good or not.

I belong to a women's group so when we go on an outing we meet & ride share. Many of the entrances onto the freeways have special "Park & Ride" lots.

That's one thing I miss in the US is having a convenient train system. In London that was my main means of travel.
