And so begins the fall of the Obamanation.
About time! Another bloated defense contractor. Bloat not product. Over expensive products being phased out. Perhaps they learned for Microsoft what happens when management starts to act like feudal lords.
I'm sure the thousands of people who just lost their jobs appreciate being "phased out" by their feudal lords. Imagine the smiles on their kids faces Christmas morning.
Boeing is the third largest aerospace and defense contractor.

This has been coming for a long time. The F-15 construction is ending. Many defense projects are over budget and late. Some like the F-35 are nothing to write home about being inferior to other Air combat aircraft around the world.
Boeing is cutting in the shadow of the sequester that will require devestating defense cuts. US law requires empoyers with more than 100 employees to give 60 days notice of planned layoffs.
Interestingly, Boeing is making cuts to it's defence arm, not commercial aircraft arm. And the sequester is heralding drastics cuts to...defense. It doesn't come as a big surprise. Obama was re-elected and it doesn't look like Boeing has much faith in his ability or willingness to compromise and avoid the fiscal cliff.
