Is Bowe Bergdahl a traitor?

I saw on FB the story of the American soldier who had been prisoner for 5 years and I couldn't believe the comments. Soldiers who had served with him claimed he was a deserter who had walked away from his post. Officials don't seem to be saying much. This morning on CNN they had this story http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/01/us/bergdahl-deserter-or-hero/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Is this man a traitor and did Obama do the right thing in negotiating his release? Doesn't this put the rest of our soldiers in jeopardy of being kidnapped?

This is a very serious issue that is not getting the attention it needs. President Obama has just jeopardized the safety of every American serving overseas by trading this man whether he was a traitor or not. I work with a lot of people who have served and they are furious over this exchange.

Whatever on earth are your talking about?  Let me put this in terms which are not political.  We have a system which is supposed to operate on the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". If your coworkers don't believe that principle for Bo Bergdahl, they should understand it could be in abeyance for them at some point in the future.   No double standards.  Can they live with that?   I rather doubt it!

Think about it.  I come from a family of veterans.  IF talking heads get their way, politics, not ethics will determine how much support a POW gets.  Want that?

I loathe the talking heads who skew  a complex situation for the sake of politics. You should too.

I am appalled. Until a formal enquiry or court martial has convened, NOBODY has the right to determine innocence or guilt. God give me patience!  What the hell is wrong with people that they think a majority of uninformed public opinion is correct?  This is NOT American Idol!

I also doubt that you have ever served in the armed forces or have close kin in military service or you wouldn't not ask such an ODD question about "kidnapping". In war zones, it's called being captured!   U.S. troops are trained to resist capture and seek escape at the first opportunity. Not to mention that they're armed to the teeth.  Being held hostage is supposed to be met with "name, rank and serial number".  Period.

I don't know the particulars of Bo Bergdahl's case. Unless you were there, you don't either. So we wait for FACTS--not speculation nor premature and erroneous conclusions.
