Is Chicago's new Marilyn Monroe sculpture sexist?

Have you seen the 26-foot Marilyn Monroe sculpture - showing her in her famous skirt-blowing-up pose - that just went up in Chicago? Some people say its sexist or creepy or just plain tacky. Any opinions on this? I mainly wonder what its doing in Chicago, since Marilyn had absolutely no connections to the city.

I'm from the Chicago area. When this has been the subject on talk radio, it seems that there are more negative comments than positive ones. I've heard of people taking strategically posed pictures with their tongues sticking out in a licking motion.
Good or bad art piece, it's attracting a lot of attention.

Take comfort in that it's due to be removed next year.
Isn't Chicago "The Windy City"? Maybe that why they have the dubious honour.
Could be a good thing if it attracts tourists.
Sexist? I don't think so MM was a, if not the, sex symbol of her time.

yeah I know... I live in Lockport. I have to go downtown next month, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the thing (not sure if I'll get my picture taken by it though).

I had the same thought about the "windy" city!
