Death toll rises to 89 in Missouri tornado

The people and city of Joplin, Missouri took a brutal blow from a massive tornado on Sunday; at least 89 people are dead and

I was watching the news reports this morning...just mindbending to see all that distruction!
I'm sorry about the people that were killed. But they choice to live there.
Tornadoes can happen almost anywhere, if the conditions are in place. Over the ocean, they're called "waterspouts". They're not so likely to inflict damage on the water though because there aren't stationary population centers.
I live in Cali. I used to live in "earthquake country." When I would visit people in other states, they would say "I would never live in Cali. because of the earthquakes." Well, it's not like we have earthquake SEASONS, like other states have Tornado or Hurricane SEASON. I'm 47 years old and have experienced two major earthquakes in my life.
There isn't a "tornado season" either.
So many sad stories coming out of the Joplin tornado.
A bit off topic, but the one thing that bugged me about this was that for over a week after the Joplin tornado the President was off dancing and BBQ'ing in Europe when I felt he should have cancelled his "trip" and came back to the U.S.
He was not in Europe on vacation.
