Is he not familiar with the requirements of President of the United States? Is this bone head really making decisions for our country? Sigh. What next, the island of Guam tipping over again?

I couldn't find the proper video in the link either, so I did a google and this was the top getter. I heard this on the news this am, but it's funny, I don't remember the President part, I probably just missed it. However, Durbin said it. Pandering to potential voters. That's all it is.

According to the OP, it says

The problem isn't your Guam comment. When links do not work, they're useless.

If Dick Durbin was addressing the U.S. born children of illegal immigrants, they could become president of the U.S. someday and it's not Durbin who is boneheaded. http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_citi.html

There are two possibilities in regards to your claim that Durbin is pandering.

If he is, what's new? All politicians who wish to remain in public office, have to offer their constituents a reason to "vote for me!" I have long thought that Republicans are pursuing a Shaker-type philosophy of political extinction by refusing to see a demographic shift and understand that they must adapt or die off.

The other possibility is that Durbin isn't pandering and is showing a degree of compassion for young people who are caught between two worlds.

I'm sorry that was not what he was saying. Put it back into context and it refers to the President of the US.

So no one in particular, just that mysterious body of "they". I thought so. Thanks.

Strange. The link works for me. It's Dick Durbin, in congress asking the dream act students to stand. They do and he acknowledges their bravery for doing so. Then he proceeds to comment about how he sees America's future in them. He says he sees teachers, doctors, lawyers, congressmen, senators and maybe even a president.

Oh for goodness sakes, I wasn't quoting the transcript! But....I will to correct the record of what he said, exactly...word for word.

Dick Durbin:

""Let me ask everyone here today that is a dreamer, a Dream Act student to stand and be recognized. Thank you so much for being here, the sacrifice you made to come. You can be seated. When I look around, I see AMERICAS future, OUR doctors, OUR teachers, OUR nurses, OUR engineers, OUR scientists, OUR soldiers, OUR congressmen, OUR senators, and maybe even OUR PRESIDENT.""

Gosh...sure sounds like he's talking about Americas president to me.
