Just heard on the news this a.m. that the Duggars are expecting their 20th child. While I don't believe in telling anyone what their choices should be concerning this, I do wonder at anyone who would have this many children.

She reminds me of my mom. My mother looooved being pregnant. She loves BABIES. She loved all the attention pregnancy, babies and having a big family brought her. But she hated actually raisng CHILDREN. Which means from about 1 year old on. I was raised by my older siblings, not my mother, and that's pretty much what I see in what little I've observed about the Duggars. But, at least they can afford them.

<< IMHO, she's addicted to being pregnant. >>

And to being in the news and on a tv show.

I can't stand that woman or her choice to keep having more that she can't personally take care of.

My DD & I were talking about it last night. We both think that she's addicted not only to the attention but also the hormones that pregnancy produces. What worries me is that, due to her age, any baby will have 'challenges'. The last one had a very low birth weight (under 2 lbs) & had a lot of health problems. My DD was saying how the studies they've seen in her Psych classes show that there is a good chance that such children could have substantial health problems, etc., later in life too. So, then guess who'll probably be taking care of them...

ITA. So many people (no one here so far!) seem to feel that as long as they can financially support them, then it's just fine. I've heard that from some more conservative TV 'talking heads' since this was announced. To me, yes, that is important, but the quality of time with one's parents far outweighs being raised by older siblings! Besides, as the older siblings move on to their own lives, they won't be there to take care of the youngest - then what is she going to do?

My question is, if they want that many children, WHY NOT ADOPT???? There are so many kids who need families & yet this woman just wants to keep shooting them out!

I know that I have run across a certain mindset in some people that it is terrible that higher income people don't have more children, and low income people sometimes have a lot of children. So I think it's these people who love to see it when someone with money has a bunch of kids. A sort of, there will be more of the good people we want out there, mentality.

I am the youngest of nine. It did totally suck, when I was 12 and my very last sibling moved out. I was on my own from that day forward, because my mom was into her own thing. But I do remember times, when

In some Mennonite families, its not unusual to have this many children. The Duggars aren't the only people having a huge family.

ITA! The other children are robbed of their childhood by being forced to be surrogate parents because the parents are incapable of doing the job by having too many children. :\\

I don't agree with Mennonite's having that many children, either. Or the Catholic's stance on no b.c.

The earth's resources are finite.
