I got slammed in the past for my (possibly) extreme view on this topic, so I'm going to wait before I post it.

Freedom means freedom for everyone. I support her right to fly the stars and bars.

Huh. We have, as a society, agreed that when one person's "freedoms" pose a painful or dangerous threat to others, those freedoms are not automatic rights. The usual example given is the one about shouting "fire" (without an actual fire threat), in a crowded theater.

Caddell IS flying her flag but it's quite obvious that her intent is to inflame and cause pain. That's reprehensible.

What heritage is she proud of? That we used to own slaves in the South? That's not a heritage I'm proud of.

If she's flying the flag because of racist acts towards her by her black neighbors, then her act is obvious racism.

Many many people in the US owned slaves.

Well, it must be ok if everybody was doing it.

Other than that, I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

Actually, most of the men who fought the Civil War were not slave owners. Slaves were expensive. the poor fought in the wars. The rich could keep their men from fighting by paying a fee or sending......their slaves, to stand in for them. So I don't really get the pride thing either. Pride over being dupes for big business?

Would you feel the same if someone had a Nazi flag flying outside their home?

Granted not everyone who flies a Confederate flag is racist but I don't believe this woman isn't. She's definitely blatantly & knowingly insensitive - emphasis on the 'knowingly'! She's trying hard to make a statement when she makes sure the flag pole is tall enough that her 'heritage' can be seen flying over the fence!
