Florida is joining California, Arizona, and Michigan in allowing their folk to use their food stamps at fast food restaurants.
Should we overhaul this system?
When we have an obese nation, seems we are not going to cut health care costs going this route.
Should food stamps only be redeemed for healthy choices? Should we just be giving out prepackaged healthy meals?
Might as well just give them a debit card to spend any way they choose?

Those "freedoms" of which you speak, to conduct business without any concern for enviromental impact or consumer safety, are the tenets of laissez-faire capitalism.

Thanks for the link, which clearly shows that Obama has nothing to do with this and, as the article states, his hands are tied. I'm not sure where people get the idea that the president has all-encompassing power.

one of the reasons that military aircraft are so expensive is the intense amount of changes that the buyer keeps wanting to make.

FYI, the majority of Boeing's revenue is not derived from the government.

I would love to read what the "Boeing CEO" supposedly said. Since they moved the HQ to Chicago (for whatever non-reason they had), we don't hear much about what they say.

Who knew? One of the newest board members for Boeing is......wait for it.......a South Carolinian. http://www.charlestonbusiness.com/news/41220-boeing-board-elects-s-c-native-kellner-as-director One wonders.

I remember when Boeing took over McDonnell Douglas and moved most of MD's operations out of the metropolitan St. Louis area. Missourians weren't happy campers.

It’s my understanding that food stamps can be used to purchase anything edible.

I too have questioned that.

It's about half - 2010 revenues:
Commercial Airplane $31.8 billion
government contracts $31.9 billion
of course this varies year to year. However, Boeing almost went under when the gov't canceled the SST...being reliant on gov't contracts can be dangerous! ;)
