A Marine sergeant who started a Facebook group that is openly critical of President Barack Obama and posted comments saying he will not follow the unlawful orders of the commander in chief is facing possible dismissal from the Corps.

Considering how Bush's supporters screamed bloody murder when anyone in the armed forces even uttered a criticism....

I admit that I have a dilemma with denying our troops a basic right that they risk/give their lives defending. But I guess they know going in...

They do have a right to criticize the POTUS.

I agree.

The post is too brief and does not state what the unlawful act(s) and/or order(s) are which the Marine has referred to.

My viewpoint is honor is honor and unlawful is unlawful, no matter who is calling the shot(s). If a marine or any other military force personnel believes that the order(s) received by a higher authority to be immoral, inhumane, unsafe, against protocol

To all:

It's not a matter of honor or freedoms of speech.

The UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) specifically states that "Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

I find the hoopla surrounding this quite interesting.
