An interesting read on this is from Star Parker. A black woman who writes about her experiences with the great society programs in her book "Uncle Sam's Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America's Poor and What We Can Do About It"

She has regular appearances on many programs. She stated the rules for welfare were clear to her:

1) Stay poor (have no assets)

2) Don't work (no job means continued benefits)

3) No husband or live in man

If the above rules were followed, she got a nice apartment, by the beach, with common jacuzzi. It enabled her drug addiction to go for many years. Her story is both tragic and hopeful, as she has worked her way out of the Great Society programs that had trapped her.

A video of her discussing problems with the Great Society programs can be found here - http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/180551-1 and on many other websites.

That's like saying that the German Democratic Republic, the People's Republic of China, or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have anything to do with democracy or a republic.

On some level I have to agree, as well as disagree. My husband has a previously existing condition and could not get affordable health insurance. In order to qualify for medicaid, we could not be married. If we married, our share of cost became prohibitive.

((So there was disincentive to marry, but co-habitation didn't matter.))

See what gay people have to look forward too? Lol.

A socialist party, is usually socialist or communist.

Hitler believed in big government, in government health care, and in government seizing property and profits as necessary to achieve various objectives.

Lets see, government as the solution to most problems, check, universal health care, check, government provides jobs for all, check, government seizes private property and assets as necessary, check. Political correctness as the rule, or punishment, check.

Tough to see much other than a mutated variant of socialism in the Nazi party for me. They hated Jews, and coerced businesses first, if the business resisted it's assets were seized.

Europe has been trying to work the kinks out of socialism for generations. The consequences to humanity have been rather expensive when it fails. Currently Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and others are having severe issues, mostly due to various attempts at socialism. Obama's increasingly socialized U.S. is starting to have the high structural unemployment that is the hallmark of most modern socialized European governments.

Some Republicans want to say who people can marry.
