And I, for one, have mixed emotions.

Long time! Welcome back!

Thank you for such a clearly written explanation. And I agree, no matter who he was, we should not be disrespectful to the body.

ITA about the conspiracy theorists. You could set them down right beside the body & they'd still deny that it was him. As for "The Donald"...well,... ;)

While I don't really get the 'celebrations', I do understand some of it. For all the innocent people he killed here & around the world, he got what he deserved. Even though I don't believe in an eye for eye necessarily, justice should be served. The world is a better place without him.

Will this solve the terrorism issues? No. Will it make it worse? Possibly. But all the unrest in the middle east is seen as an indicator that the people there are also tired of this kind of garbage. They may not agree with the West...they may even hate us...but they're tired of seeing people like bin Laden killing other Muslims because he didn't agree with them!

Interesting. I do not recall any press here in the States about such an offer. But it probably would not have been met with approval from the general population of the U.S., coming so soon after the 9/11 attacks. Anger and fear were the dominant emotions.

Also, at the time, nobody knew that BushCo would divert attention to Iraq, taking resources away from the hunt for Bin Ladin.

Oh, for crying out loud.......!

I am amazed that there are people who can string together totally unrelated events, then claim causation or conspiracy. Earthquakes, tornadoes, disaster readiness exercises and OBL's death--in one rambling and unreasoned post. I don't know who you're quoting (the individual who numbered this post "667"), but that person is NOT using credible information or critical thinking skills.

Therefore, the wild and weird conclusions are without merit.

I usually do. The individual never responds to comments. But my buttons were in "sensitive" mode this morning!
