Or at least the tomato sauce is? I have no trouble with our government setting standards for foods served in public schools. Kids can brown bag it too. But the GOP declaring that pizza is a vegetable? ?? LOL!

Okay, so I found out some info.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2011-459

In a nutshell, no dems voted for this bill...but 9 dems did not vote at all (Gabby Giffords and Anthony Weiner being two of the representative that did not vote)

19 Republicans did not voted Nay on the bill along with all the democrats....Michelle Bachmann was one who voted Nay.

The same Daily Mail that has been successfully sued for libel on numerous occasions?

When I see the term gold digger, I immediately think 'sexism' by the person employing the word.

Face it, this group of Republican candidates are a joke, the worst collection in either party in my lifetime (and I'm 57.)

Anyone watch the most recent Food network's show Chopped? They had four "lunch ladies" competing. (All from the North East.) They showed clips of the meals they served daily. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of the meals.... No frozen chicken nuggets, pizzas or other prepared items.
Class Acts
Episode CQ0913H

>"Class is in session in the Chopped kitchen! Four school cafeteria chefs compete to raise awareness about the importance of good meals for kids. With White House chef Sam Kass as a guest judge, the ladies seek to make a big impression with their first dishes, made with dill pickles and canned tuna. Then in the entrée round, quinoa is a new ingredient for two out of the three chefs. Will they be able to take something unknown and create something great? The two finalists pour their hearts into making fantastic desserts that include grapes and cream cheese. And an emotional victory brings an incredible competition to its conclusion."<

Oddly when I visit here - http://www.marylandjuice.com/2011/11/anatomy-of-vote-why-congress-voted-to.html it provides an interesting historical context of the situation then leads me here - http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2011-857

The above govetrak link indicates 165 Democrats voted yea (for the Pizza as a vegetable bill) and 133 Republicans voted yea. Only 20 Democrats voted no, as did 101 Republicans.

The link you provided was here - http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2011-459 note the date, the vote you are concerned about was taken on June 16, 2011. This was for a version of the bill that limited starch and would have doubled the amount of tomato paste required to be considered a half serving of a vegetable. Democrats voted unanimously AGAINST the bill that didn't have Pizza as a veggie.

The bill that passed, after discussion with the Senate, was the bill cited in the links provided by me in this post. This bill was passed on November 17, 2011.

So now lets review:

Democrats vote for pizza overwhelmingly as a vegetable.

Republicans vote for it, but are nearly evenly divided.

So why does the press report Republicans want pizza as a vegetable??

If you look here - http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h112-2112 you can get a better idea of the bills history.

Clearly Democrats wanted Pizza as a vegetable, also French fries (to appease an Idaho Democrat in the Senate). Then our Democrat President signs this folly into law.

So not only do Democrats pass this overwhelmingly into law, but the French fry story doesn't get much press.

So many people are easily manipulated by our press. :(

"Concern" is probably the wrong word.
