Or at least the tomato sauce is? I have no trouble with our government setting standards for foods served in public schools. Kids can brown bag it too. But the GOP declaring that pizza is a vegetable? ?? LOL!

I'm not convinced that it was voted down simply due to influence of the food companies.

Do you know who was to pay for it? Is that the Dept. of Agriculture?

<< Obama didn't win the 2008 election because he was Obama....he won because he wasn't Bush. >>

Since Bush wasn't running against Obama, that makes no sense.

I also don't believe children are obese because of 5 lunches a week, 8 months a year. And the purpose would be defeated when they got home and grabbed the cheetos, anyway.

Of course....and the Republicans did run a candidate. Strange how all those conservatives didn't vote for the conservative and the ultra-conservative.

I was referring to the election being a referendum on Bush.

I'll see if I can dig up any more info nut I won't be able to post it until Sunday...Apple Cup tomorrow! Kind of ironic...a cross-state rivalry based on a healthy fruit! ;)

OT...some schools around here are working with local farmers to get fresh & healthy foods for lunches. Some schools have even started growing annual gardens to teach kids about healthy food habits & seasonal eating. I think it needs to be more than just lunches but even getting one healthy meal in a kid could go a long way towards exposing them to better eating habits. Plus, I find it unbelievable that some schools are trying to/have gotten rid if recesses too!

"America needs to be restored to what it once was "

Was when? Before women could vote? 1960? 1982? 1991? 2000?
