BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech officials said a police officer and another person were shot and killed on the school's campus Thursday and the university locked down the campus, where 33 people died in 2007 in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

A suspect remained on the loose. A news release from the school said the police officer had pulled someone over for a traffic stop and was shot and killed.

From what I've heard so far, I'm kind of wondering if this isn't a case of 'suicide by cop'. Apparently, as far as they can determine at this time, he had no ties to the university nor did he know the cop.

It's just tragic that someone like this can get ahold of a gun & then kill someone in cold blood leaving a family without a parent... :(

That police officer had five children. :(
How do these nut cases obtain guns?

And still, out liberal friends chide the police and want our police officers to place themselves in physical danger when dealing with people who are physicallly resisting arrest.
