Spotlight From Glenn Beck Brings a CUNY Professor Threats

Last week I watched a portion of one of Beck's shows. He was drawing a circular fenced area on a blackboard & angrily saying something about herding. I didn't understand what he was talking about so change the channel.
He sounded very angry & bombastic.

The impetus for concern by the New York times seems to be activism by Piven years ago starting with an article titled "The weight of the poor". It appears Piven has been a leftist radical for years, and has pushed to undermine our capitalist system of government. I have seen no threat against Piven from Beck.
Thanks for the homework. :smileywink: (Couldn't get online yesterday my mouse's batteries died.)
I'm not sure why Beck is dredging up Piven's writing from the 1960's. Given the times back then many problems

Sometimes when an old
knock knock who's there?
To understand Beck and his use / response to Pivens, you'd need to visit his website, and listen to his videos.
The New York Times targeting of Beck is greatly in error. The Times is pandering to their target audiences bias and ignorance. To the extent it works, they are like Pivens, and prey upon those unable to think critically.
Pivens recently encouraged and applauded the violent protests in Greece. Encouraging the mobs. Recently a pregnant woman and her unborn baby were killed in that violence. The woman's crime was being a bank teller. That Pivens encouraged or incited the sort of violence that killed this woman and her unborn baby isn't a concern or mentioned by the New York Times. The encouragement by Pivens of the Greek violence is very recent, but consistent with her long standing beliefs.

I listened to the videos & visited the links you posted.
Beck is a windbag IMO.
You agree with me that Beck's a windbag unfortunately some take him seriously.
Beck is a moron. He talks to hear himself talk. Nothing he says is of consequence but the anger & hatred it contains seems to appeal to a certain group.
