Supreme Court Hearings on Same Sex Marriage
Tue, 03-26-2013 - 12:55pm

Has anyone been following this story?  The hearing started today, and it appears that the court is hesitant to issue a ruling that would apply to all states.  From the Today Show

“Several members of the court seemed to be struggling to find a way to limit this case only to California and one way to do that might be simply to say that the Proposition 8 proponents had no legal power to bring this (suit) in the first place, and I think, frankly for the advocates of same-sex marriage, my guess is that’s the best they could hope for,” Williams said.

Do you think that same sex marriages should be legal?  Also, do you think that they need to be reviewing this issue on a state by state basis, or should be issuing a ruling that applies across the U.S.?

No.  Legalizing same sex marriage would require redefining marriage and opening up a cultural can of worms, as well as conferring social sanction and parity to "non-traditional" relationships.
