"They used the word "trend" because the attacks are more frequent and more deadly lately."

LInks to that please? Actual statistics? No, IMHO, it's just getting reported more now. With so much 'instant access' around the world, news that wouldn't have made it out of a town, let alone another country, is making headlines worldwide. FYI, my DH was in Zimbabwe once on a business trip - right after he left (like within a couple of days), 15 or so nuns & priests were taken hostage & killed by local tribes.

ITA Over humanity's history, all beliefs have been persecuted at one time or another - and the persecution continues into today's world as well. Anyone who believes differently is a prime target. It doesn't matter what one's beliefs are.

As one of 'alternative faith', while I've yet to be "persecuted" (as in physical torture, denial of basic rights, etc.), I have been faced with outright hostility, condescension, arrogance, etc. I'm not one to talk about my beliefs unless asked, so it's not something that I've started. But it does give me a tiny peek into what others are going through.

Um....how about reading the article I posted, for starters. It seems the U.S. State Department disagrees with you and they are seeing an increased trend. Funny how some really will argue this point....only because it's Christians who are being attacked. It doesn't surprise me though....I have seen so many "regulars" on these boards show their blatant bigotry of Christians. Somehow the debate is always spun into:

"Well, this has been going on in ALL religions over the history of the world"....and "It hasn't increased...the media is just broadcasting the stories more"....and...."What about X religion or Y religion...they have been persecuted too?"...blah blah, blah...

Soooooo typical!
