Frown

I won't post the Tweets here because not only do they break TOS, they are extremely offensive. And yet, this is what the anti-Obama crowd spews. I won't say that they are Romney supporters because I don't know that for a fact. I think that they are just hate-filled, fearful, no-brains who have found an outlet that lets them say whatever they want without any consequences. See the above link if you want to subject yourself to them.

Still, it does show the undercurrent of prejudice & bigotry in our country...not just against people of color (any ethnicity) but also against orientation & women. It makes me so sad that we, as a country, haven't moved beyond this. It's truly pathetic.

Yes, a few negative comments...about 350 out of millions of comments.  And, as I pointed out in my now-censored reply, anti-Romney people can be equally vile.  It is a shame that this kind of hate still exists in this country, but it's quite promising that there were so few.

As for Bush...first, I was not speaking about you personally, but it's difficult to discuss broad issues without referring to groups that seem to demostrate certain characteristics in common...but it wasn't long after the 9/11 attacks that Democrats began to attack Bush for the "7 minutes" nonsense.  And if you want to assign blame for what you consider "a war that was never necessary" (an opinion I disagree with), then in the same breath as you point the finger at Bush, why aren't you also pointing the finger at Hillary Clinton...or Nancy Pelosi...or Harry Reid...or John Kerry...or Chuck Schumer...et al?  They all vigorously supported the war...even before Bush was elected, ALL of the high-ranking Democrats were pushing Clinton to act.  And yet liberals like to conveniently rewrite history to suit their partisan ideology...and "blame Bush" is a convenient slogan for their misdeeds.

The same can be said with the spending.  Unlike Obama...who's SIX TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT apparently doesn't bother you...ALL of Bush's spending had strong bi-partisan support.  And for the last two years of the Bush administration...not coincidentally the exact time the economy crashed...the Democrats controlled Congress and held the purse strings.

@deenasdad:

A few negative comments?  Racial slurs?  Death threats?  And, if you read my post, I said that I did not necessarily attribute these comments to Romney supporters.

As for Bush, right after 9/11, I supported him.  When he went into Afghanistan after bin Laden, I supported him.  When he invaded Iraq & started fiscally running us into the ground to wage a war that was never necessary?  That's when I QUESTIONED his motives & actively protested them - PEACEFULLY.  And FYI, not a single person I know, nor a single 'liberal' regular here ever thought that the movie showing Bush being assasinated was acceptable!  I'm NOT tarring all conservatives & I would appreciate the same in return.  I just found it sad that our country still can't get beyond such hateful slurs.

If there are extremists on both sides, then why try to make hay out of very few negative comments and try to tarnish conservatives as a whole?  As for your apparent indignance over "this is our President they were attacking...some going to far as to whish he'd be assassinated"...where were you for most of the last decade when the left did nothing but attack Bush and try to demean him in every concievable way?  There was even a movie made speculating about his assassination...and all to the constant applause of liberals.  It's tough to take an argument seriously when it's wrapped in so much obvious hypocrisy.

@deenasdad

I will not argue that there are extremists on both sides.  That's a given & I don't approve of them either.  I did say that these people are undoubtedly those who are fear & hate filled & that the internet gives them an outlet that they feel is 'safe' with no consequences.

But when all is said & done, this is our President that they were attacking...some going so far as to wish he'd be assasinated.
