There appears to be some improvement over the 2007 infant mortality figures shown in this chart...

Infant mortality by race in parts of the US is still appalling. An enormous gap most probably economic.

>""Waiting times go up and they go down, but this data shows that waiting times remain broadly stable. On average, admitted patients waited 7.9 weeks for treatment in March 2011, compared to eight weeks in March 2010. For outpatients it is just 3.7 weeks, compared to 3.8 weeks in 2010.""<

In my experience, here in the US, it's taken me close to three months to see a specialist. (BTW I have "Cadillac" type of insurance if that makes a difference.)

>"Despite spending more per capita on health care than any other country in the world, the US is at the same level as the lowest of any Western European country (Portugal for males and Denmark for females), while the rate for women is increasing at a much slower pace than Western Europe."<

It takes six months or more to see an endocrinologist in my city.

I've heard similar experiences, of long waits for appointments, from friends.
Some would rather criticize others than look in their own backyard.

By choice, I waited years for my treatement here, thinking I really didn't need it.
