What are the odds Boehner could have gotten that "offer" through congress when it's difficult to get the votes for his current plan that is all cutting and no revenues?

His plan -- roughly $3 trillion in cuts and raises to the debt ceiling in two stages -- is being attacked from the right by Republicans who don't think it goes far enough in reforming government spending. And he has been unable to secure enough support from Democrats by sweetening the bill with enough of what they want to offset the tea party conservatives he's sure to lose.

According to the article the White House AGREED to it, not just considered it.
Boehner and the House already passed legislation to end this fiasco, but the Democrats in the Senate are the ones who stopped it.
Unfortunitly the Republican proposals have some very disagreeable items.
Yes, I agree that both parties are responsible for this mess but I believe that the Democrats have shown no desire to control it.
