No, buying private insurance is not, strictly speaking, a tax.

Bush had a huge advantage. HIS predecessor didn't leave behind two wars which had not been funded. The economy began its prosperous period under Clinton. Blaming Fannie Mae is handy but they were only one of the players in the subprime mortgage debacle. Don't forget that there were MANY others, both political and private. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_policies_and_the_subprime_mortgage_crisis

"So precious" is an fuddled dimwit who starts a war without sound casus belli, when there's another war going on with an entity which harbored terrorists (who killed thousands in the U.S.), then declines to assume fiscal responsibility for either.

I KNOW that only Mellon is charging fees!!!!!! Thank you. That's not the point, Frank Dodd is an intrusive, set of regulations that is hurting our economy, this particular fee is just an example.

"I love the hearings on C-SPAN, before the meltdown, where Frank Raines calls Fannie Mae's investments "risk free" (genius!)"

and now they are asking the American taxpayer for money.

I meant to say more money, Good grief, what was I thinking?

That was B.O.'s defense when he went into the courtroom. He claimed HCR was a tax. Was he lying?

That one isn't going to fly either. It's not a tax when you force two private entities into a contract.

Do you think China has no regulations?

Me:

"And yet, China's economy continues to grow at 9%.Clearly burdening business with excessive taxes and regulations does chase away jobs."

In polling, no specific Republican candidate currently has approval ratings as high as Obama. Attempts to rephrase will not change that salient fact.

You're proving a theory I have that many conservatives who profess to back the tea party are not quite as willing to slash "their" programs or entitlements.
