The signs were too professional, the money-raising too successful; now we know:

You have mischaracterized a whole group of people on the basis of the acts of a few miscreants and then demanded that others do likewise. If OWS gets enough negative coverage through media that might happen. But the OWS message is NOT "anarchy, socialism, lawlessness, untreated mental illness, ineptitude, violence".

"Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally. #ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations." That's their cause. http://occupywallst.org/about/

Edited to add that if you don't think they have a valid concern, you might want to review the "Citizens United" Supreme Court ruling.

I find it odd that anyone would say they generally support the views of OWS since

The New York Post? That'd be like me using the Weekly World News as a source. C'mon.

I don't recall any instances of tea party members showing up "armed to the teeth."

All kinds of whistles have been blown.

George Soros has been accused of funding the movement which has $500,000 (peanuts compared to the amount Armey and FreedomWorks spent astroturfing the "tea party")

There are "freeloaders", pimps, anti-Semites and druggies in the movement. *****shrugging***** Why not include ACORN too?

I just don't remember the same group of people who are baying about OWS, being concerned when "Tea Partiers" went to town hall meetings with the specific intent of disrupting proceedings. Or when they showed up, en masse, armed to the teeth. That was "better"?

Exactly. ACORN isn't around anymore, but blow that dog whistle and the base starts screaming.

ITA with Ana Marie Cox.

Can't believe FOX has to resurrect the defunct ACORN to gin up their base; a sign of the disarray within the Republican party.

Why Occupy Wall Street is not just a leftwing Tea Party

Why hasn't the Occupy Wall Street movement generated its own Joe the Plumber or Herman Cain?

There are progressive millionaires available to run! What's more, OWS – or at least, the issues that propel it – are vastly more popular than the Tea Party that gestated Cain and gave Joe his soapbox. A New York Times/CBS
