Hi, Janet! It's been a very lonnnnng time since I've been here, but thought I'd stop by with this question that has puzzled me for some time, and no guru can explain it to me....

When my desktop computer went in to the shop, I've been using my 4 year old Gateway laptop. The OS is Vista and the browser IE7. When I saw a link to download IE8, I thought, yeah, go ahead and try it.

Shortly after IE8 installed, I was somewhere on the iternet when suddenly, a window popped up that said, "Internet Explorer has stopped working". I could not X out of the window, and therefore could not even shut the laptop off. I was forced to pull the power plug and then the battery.

Hi, glad to see you (sorry about the problem)

I have IE 9 and have on occation had it quit working but it asks me if I want to wait, or close now.... I most of the time close now and open it right back up and go on about my business.. have never had it crash.....

I think mines sometimes is a isp hic-up and it when the signal isn't there for a second it don't know what to do....but I have found that Vista has a quick recovery with these things.....but I don't know why you would be getting a hard crash...

I found this Windows page
