Good - bye IE 6

It always made me wonder why when something new comes out that the old isn't put to rest sooner rather than later.. by that I mean, IE 6 we are up to IE 9 now and finally they are putting an end to IE6.....but on the other hand, if you have XP and want to upgrade from 8 to 9 they say sorry it just won't run on your machine..... I know it has to do with money but I like it to stay in my pocket more than theirs. To buy a new computer when you don't need one because your browser is as old as it can get makes me think that maybe they want to get out of the browser business.....and I don't think that is true..Other browsers can be updated on XP can't they? I mean after all XP is good yet for another 2 years..

I think lots of us are cynical about all of this by now. I think the landfills are overflowing with throwaways, and I think they've halfway included computers in that pile. The darned things cost a bundle now, so when they make anything obsolete or stop providing support, I think it stinks. It just forces us to do things we don't quite understand or spend money we can't afford to spend. My husband STILL runs 98 on his office computer and he never does updates. Don't ask me how it still works okay, but he will not change it. Last time I allowed automatic updates, this computer went crazy, some things wouldn't work as well or at all, and I really don't know what the updates DID, anyhow! I do have some disks that will not install on this computer now, ones that worked just fine on the old one. Just one example of what happens when we try in good faith to change what they advise.

I wouldn't be able to stand it if I didn't have my updates. I think most people now just get the auto updates it saves worring about them...

I think they could do something with old computer to keep them out of the landfill. Like melt them down and make new ones or something..

At least with downloaded software nothing is going into the just gets overwritten on the computer...

I kind of think that if you get the updates as they come they just work better you can do it yourself, you don't have to do it through the auto update.

IE will soon be updated without notice it will just update.. guess we will see how that works....I think that is in Windows 8...
