Advice about being interviewed for a magazine article

A friend of mine was interviewed for a magzine article and she also submitted photographs.  Where could she get advice about what she should or should not do as the subject of an article?

For example, should she ask that her full last name not be disclosed? The article is not specifically about her, it's about her in relation to a particular topic.

The writer of the artcle has given her very little feedback, except that the article will be published and they will be using her info and photos.

I would think this would have been discussed prior to the submission. :( I'm not sure there is anything at this point she can do other than to keep requesting. If it were me, I'd send a fairly formal email, CCing the editor in chief as well, and state that as she has not heard back here are her requirements for use of photos/info: blah blah, and if this cannot be met then you rescind permission.

Hi - I agree with ubergeek. The options seem limited at the time since she's not getting answers. I'd send the request in writing so that if anything happens, you have a papertrail, either digitally or physically. GL to her!

Its surprising that this was not discussed before the interview, that the reporter didn't explain or disclose it and your friend didn't ask. If the photos are OF her then she should have been asked to sign a release. If the photos are images that she took then she should be credited as the photographer in which case her full name would appear; does she not want her full name disclosed? If none of this was done then she should contact the editor of the magazine and CC the reporter, and ask for the policies on those issues and what redress she has if she is not pleased with their answers.
