You've probably gotten advice about texting exboyfriends or exhusbands (http://www.ivillage.com/ten-things-never-text-your-ex/6-a-522116), but have you thought about what rules to follow when texting coworkers or your boss?
Of course there are times when no one should be texting (http://blog.bookrenter.com/2012/03/five-situations-when-you-should-not-be-texting/), but there are also things that you shouldn't say via text message to those at your workplace, such as that you'll be out due to illness--it's much better to call, even to leave a voicemail message, than it is to type out a text on a cell phone. Remember that text messages, and even voicemail messages, can be saved and forwarded; so, be professional in all of your ways of communicating!
