Hello I am currently a military wife looking to start a home based business. I have looked on my own by cant tell which is legit and which is not. Money is tight and looking to make a ltitle extra to assist.

You have a few choices. You can sell either a product or a service. That's it, two choice.
A service business might be becoming a virtual assistant, or starting a bookkeeping service or starting a writing service.
A product business could be something you make and sell (my daughter just got the most amazing wallet from someone who sells them in an etsy shop, she makes them herself), or it could be direct sales, or it could be becoming an affiliate for a few companies and adveritising their wares.
If you're not certain if something is legitimate, there are a few ways to find out. Go to the Better Business Bureau and see if there is a report on the company, go to a search engine and type in the name of the business with the word "scam" and see what comes up. Or come here and post a link. I'll offer my thoughts as will others.

Definately follow your passion! The great things about scams is they are hard to be passionate about. :-) Remember, take money away from your passion.
I've tried a few businesses for the money, and didnt' get very far because I had nothing to really motivate me. The 2 businesses I've done best at revolve around my children and something I feel good about.
