Just an FYI, these boards are for our friends and victims of DV.
This post makes a lot of sense to me now.
I thought it's best I introduce myself. My name's Cristina and I'm 22 from England. I chose the name Alice_the_camel cos it's my youngest son's favourite song at the moment :) I've just completed research commissioned by the Department of Health into women's experiences of domestic abuse and substance use.
** Though I recognise domestic abuse can, and does happen in the context of any relationship, *my* main focus is on domestic abuse perpetrated by males to females, as this is what I believe is most prevalent, an arguement backed by extensive research. This is not to say I would ignore or disregard any man's expriences of domestic violence, or indeed any person within a same gender relationship. Like I said, however, my main remit is as above.
Hi Alice, welcome -
I don't think anyone's going to disagree with you at all (and I apologize for not being able to get here over the weekend with time contraints), but as you well know a majority of incidences that are reported are male on female and we have a tendency to respond he as perpetrator and she as victim here 99% of the time because a majority of the posters here are female.
