You could do it informally, but he is ultimately in control-he decides how much money is available to you and he decides how he comes and goes into your home. Or you could make it formal-RO and child support and the whole thing, but there will be a difficult period of adjustment and uncertainty.

I suggest you looking at www.womenslaw.org to see what your legal rights are regarding the state in which you live.

What money HE has makes no difference w/ a RO. If your area works like mine & the RO is signed by a judge, not until tehe hearing in 3 weeks can anything be done by him. Thats when it is reviewed. These days, DV is very serious. Has he ever threatened to physically harm you? If so, detail it precisely in the affadavit you have to write out for the RO. Does he have any substance abuse problems? B/c if so, write that in there b/c that shows how unstable they can be. Is there a Womens Center or DV center where you can talk to a legal advocate? They do it for free. & remember, JUST b/c an atty makes big $$$, does NOT mean they know all the ins & outs of the RO System. Take MINE for example ... he screwed it up big time. I woudl have been better off with the FREE legal aid atty who deal with this ALL the time, than teh $350/hr atty i have, who had not a clue! Now, if i was fighting for a 2 million $ retirment account of my rich H's, THEN i bet he would know precisely what to do!
