It's a long story, but my bf was angry today. I stopped answering the phone because he kept calling me a fat-slut-bitch, etc. He called and called and called and finally just came over because I wouldn't pick up. I made him promise through the door that he would be nice, and he promised, but apparently it pissed him off, because he blew through the door and shoved me. He tried to rip my shirt off and grab me and shook me, etc. I was terrified that it was just the beginning of the violence. He said "if you are so scared, then call the cops." So I called my sister and told her what was going on. I was hysterical, crying, the whole works. He was standing right there. I didn't care. I told her anyway. She called the cops. They came and said they had to take a mandatory criminal report. I'm left feeling scared and confused and I'm not sure what's going to happen. The cops said it was really serious. Apparently, some detectives are going to call? Does anyone know about this process? What is going on? I am freaking...

What state are you in? Here in Ohio they normally take at least 1 person to jail when there is a domestic dipute. I know its scary, you need to be scared though. Its your bodys way of telling you were in alot of danger here. Hang in there kiddo. Im am not an expert but maybe they will be able to give you some help in getting out of this situation. You deserve so much better.

summon up the courage , you should press them yourself. Then maybe you can get a restraining order.

Crypto, what's going to happen is they are going to take your statement and they are probably going to arrest him for assault.

Thanks to the both of you for responding.

I do plan on telling the detectives the truth when they call. I was honest last night, and I was surprised to see how seriuosly they took it. I guess I have some bad experience with law enforcement (how they reacted to my mother's abusive relationship, and campus police at my last college telling me it was not a big deal that another student was following me around on campus, calling me a slut-whore-bitch).

Update - the detective just called because my mother called them from New Hampshire. She doesn't even have long distance. Everyone is pressuring me to get a restraining order. The idea of that freaks me out.

Do I tell him? Do I talk to him? I am overwhelmed.
