Domestic abuse counselor for abuser?

Is there such a thing? I know that abusers seldom change, but I would think there has to be some benefit for the victim if the abuser is informed why there is No Contact and why the partner left...just wondering...

Here's what my experience has been. I thought that if I informed my abuser that what he did was assault & against the law, that he'd feel some kind of regret and maybe even seek help. He didn't. He blamed it all on me. I thought that if I suggested some books for him to read about abusive behavior that he'd check them out since he was abused by his father for many, many years, and he'd become an abuser himself. No, he just turned it all around and blamed all his behavior on me, calling me the abusive one, calling me the crazy one. I thought that if I stood my ground and was strong and told him that he was stalking me, and that he should stop, that he'd feel some shame and stop. He didn't, and I had to have him arrested.
The only kind of counselors there are for abusers are intervention counselors, and from everything I've heard from posters here, it's pretty much a waste of money.
