One of my daughter's best friends and her friends mother were murdered Friday night. Her stepfather walked into the house and shot and killed them both. She was 14. They had been seperated, and although the police had been called to the house a couple of times recently for domestic altercations (as they called it), there was no history of violence and no arrests made at the time. My daughter said her friend never said anything about any domestic violence or anything and was just a "normal" kid. We live in a relatively small town and stuff like this way out of the norm. My daughter is devastated at the loss of her friend. I just thought I would share......don't ever think it can't happen to you. It makes me really think a lot harder about our situation too.

I'm so sorry for your daughter's loss and the pain she must be feeling right now. It was such a horrible thing to have happened. Reading about it gave me chills. It's good that you posted it, though, because it shows that these things can happen even when there's been no documented history of violence or arrests.

And that's why DV can no longer remain "hush hush".
