Finally have a freedom date ............

For some reason I couldn't commit to a date. I wasn't sure if I should use the date he attacked me and was removed from the house because I still had contact but never lived with him again. And there were a few other dates that had possibilities. My oldest choose the date that we left for New York. I wasn't sure about that because I still had contact with him were he was being abusive, if I didn't talk to him he would call my father's house in the middle of the night and my father refused to change the number. But that is the date she picked so it is the date we will go with. She had a dove with that date tattooed on her hip last night.

I am always ok on that date. Yes I remember us leaving and the fear I felt but it was the start of us being free. She won't mind if I post a picture of it.

I had the same thing inked on me today on my left shoulder=). My other two daughters are going to get matching ones when they are old enough. I want my DS to get one too but he thinks its to girly so we will see if he does, he wants a tattoo one day.

How about an eagle for his? If that's not a symbol of freedom, I don't know what is. And an eagle is most definitely NOT girly, lol!

That's a beautiful tattoo, with a lifetime of meaning behind it.

I think it would be cool!
My dd and I might get one and we were thinking of a Butterfly which symbolizes "Freedom".
I like eagles, wolves, and dd loves dragon-flies.
Whatever it is doesn't really matter it's a symbol of moving on and letting go of the past.

It didn't hurt. Felt more like a scratch. I think I am getting another one at the end of the month. My oldest will be 18 and can get one in NY and wants to get her second one and wants me to get the one I have wanted when she gets hers. This one will be a heart with 4 colored stars (heart is me and the stars are my children) with dove wings and the quote what doesn't kill you makes you stronger with the date my divorce was final. I was really nerves about getting the first one and so went with something simple since the next one will have colors but I was told that hurts less them the outline so I should be OK but I thought coloring it in would hurt worse.

I left my abuser almost 7 years ago (wow less then a month away from when he attacked me 7 years ago) and it took till she got her tattoo to come up with a freedom date and my daughter picked it. But I still am not sure that is the correct date for me. I like my divorce date better because then I was completely free from him. But I don't regret having the other date because that is the one my children go by for theirs so its a good one too. Because of the quote I thought of going with the date he tried to kill me but I like the divorce date a lot better.
