Does anyone know where I can get help with housing? I've called some apartment complexes, and I qualify for the discount, but it's still way more than I can afford. How do people do it? I don't even know where to start. I don't even know what my income will be in a month, I'm finishing up a term with the americorps program, I'm done the 31st of Aug., then I'll be in school full time, and substitute teaching. I've never had such an inconsistant income, but I need to get out now!Asap! My stepdaughter, now an adult is moving back in this week and I can't take any more! I've posted about her antics and my dh before, a long time ago, she moved out, things improved, but she's coming back and she's grown up and 100 times worse. I have to protect my child from her and her drug abusing boyfriends, and friends. Help!

Have you contacted HUD yet? www.hud.gov/ They should be able to help you find housing at specialized rates, as this is what they do. In Ohio, I *think* you contact them through the local WIC office, but I'm not sure, and I definitely don't know about other states.

cshellie...I know in my area there are several resources that help with housing. Some through churches, others through the county. I work for my local domestic violence shelter and we have all the numbers handy so that we can easily refer callers to those resources if they need them. You might want to try your own DV agency in your area and see if they can't give you those referrals. If not, if you can find one, such as Catholic Social Services or something, they will have all the options handy as well. Good luck to you.
