How do I find out ex's release date?

I think my ex is supposed to be released sometime this month but I'm not sure. I tried calling the detention center that he's at and they said that they couldn't give out that information. I called hodac and they said that they couldn't find his release date anywhere and told me to call the superior court but they don't give out the information either. Anybody know who else that I can call to find out?

Hodac is the victims services agency in my area and they told me that they couldn't find his release date. I asked them if they could pay to replace the door that he pryed open with a crow bar at my mother's and fix the wall that he shot a hole in at our apartment but they wouldn't. The only help they ever did was tell me what happened when he had to go to court. He was supposed to be banned from the county I live in but they forgot to make sure it was included in his plea agreement. I think it was because they were more worried about the other crimes he committed than the one he committed against me. I never got a restraining order against him because I thought he was going to be banned. There is no way that I can get child support from him unless he WANTS to pay. I heard from someone that he might get deported but I don't know how to find out for sure because no one tells me anything.

I have a suggestion. I didn't ask the cl's if I could post this link, so I hope it is okay. In my work as a social worker I utilize www.vinelink.com regularly. It is a system that you can look up an inmate by their name or jail/prison id number and see if they are still locked up. There is also a part where you can request to be notified via a phone call or email when that person is released. This is a nationwide system, however I have only used it for california inmates. Vinelink is a victim information system and is there to help protect victims from their abusers/attackers/stalkers etc... Give it a try, I am not sure if your ex is in a county jail or a state prison. In California you can look it up either way. But, at least give it a try and post please if it works (or doesn't work) for you, this can be a terrific resource and not many know of it.

As far as the release info being public, you bet it is. I would speak to a supervisor if you come across that again. As Harm said, get that RO ASAP. It can't hurt to be prepared. Has your ex been trying to contact you while in custody? Has he threatened you. If he has, please don't take that lightly. Also, like Harm said, Victim Services can be your best friend, go to court with you, help you with counseling/medical bills, even relocation if you are in imminent danger. They also can call prisons/jails/district attorneys on your behalf. The advocates are very knowledgable about the court system. But you have to have a police report to open a case with them.

Good luck and hugs!

Oops, I didn't read your other post. I know it is frustrating to deal with agencies and sometimes they aren't as effective as they should be. Somebody has to know this guy's release date. This is ridiculous. I don't know if he is in prison, but if he is there is some type of parole/probation officer assigned to his case. Try the Vinelink web address. Like I suggested before, speak to supervisors, be assertive. Let them know you are afraid. Get that RO, regardless of the past and him being banned from the county. Just file for it. Actually those forms are also available online, but I don't know that web address. Search restraining orders for the court in your county. The fact that he was supposed to be banned from the county should be enough for you to get the RO.

As far as the child support goes. He can choose not to pay. But if you have a court order, the monthly amount he chooses not to pay will start to add up. It will eventually effect his credit, possibly his driving priviledges. States and counties are trying to get really tough on people who don't pay their child support. Those forms are also available online, once again I don't know the website. You can also go to the district attorney child support division office for your county and they will help you get that court order. It is worth it to do this. It doesn't mean he will pay, but at least he will be held accountable.

Again, good luck and hang in there. I know this is frustrating and sometimes feels hopeless. Just keep working on it. Your safety/children's safety depends on it.

Hugs

Hi, Michelle, I have held off on posting back to you because I wanted to do some more checking on your options regarding child support.
