Here in Ohio, the grass is brown, my flowers are wilting, the bugs are feasting on me, my air is always on and I am drinking a lot of water! I dress in as little as possible and I've found a new appreciation for my old, thin undies!! No socks unless absolutely necessary. I have two fans running here in my "office" bedroom. I'm eating very little--just enough to feed the bugs--LOL!! I only walk every other day about 2 miles tops to keep my "steel" calves in check. My mother has forgotten what I look like because I live 30 minutes away and don't have a vehicle. I had my hair cut really short too! Beating the heat? I wish I could; I'd kick its' sitter up to the equator where it belongs! Thanx for reminding me of more things I am thankful for-- air and water! Hope you are staying cool in LA?! Is that Louisiana or Los Angeles, BTW?? Deb

I come here to lurk in an effort to escape the heat and what is the first message? It's about the dang heat! lol I know you guys always say, "but it's a DRY heat" as if that makes any difference! At 7:45 this morning, when I got in my car to go to work, the thermometer said it was already 98 degrees! By lunch, it was 109! I'm not sure what it was when I left work at 3:30, but it was hotter than at lunch! The monsoons keep teasing us, but they end up just dropping dry lightning, so we get even more fires! Oh, I wish I were back in Pensacola! Arizona is just not the place to be in summer.

So what do I do to escape? I turn the swamp cooler on - yes, a swamp cooler, not AC - then turn the fan on so it blows directly on my chair, and I read. It's just too dang hot to move! Yes, there are really cute guys camped out at our local high school - the hot shots are camping here because we're right in the middle of the worst fires - but I don't have enough energy to go check them out. That should tell you that it's REALLY hot here!

Peace and hugs,
Cheryl :-)

Hello all! And glad to know that I am not alone here. I live in the DC-Metro area. Heat I can deal with, but the humidity throws my whole balance off. So needless to say I'm on these boards sucking up my A/C. I'll probably venture out when the sun goes down and the public doesn't see my sweat. The rain showers feel so good to me, I bask in them for the short time - cuz like the other poster says it's shorted-lived and back to the humidity we go. I can't hardly wait for fall.
