Hi.
My name is Lori, and I was here a couple of years ago. I think my member name was twinchasers or momto6rugrats at that time.
I just wanted to let all of the wonderful women here that are still in abusive relationships, that you can get out and stay out of an abusive relationship.
I've been free from mine for over 8 years. :)
I endured 12 years of emotional, verbal, psychological, physical and sexual abuse at the hands of my... first... boyfriend, then I married him, after we had our second child.
I thought that I could change him, but NOONE can change another human being. They HAVE to want to change.
I am a MUCh happier person without a man in my life then with one in my life. I was in a verbal abuse relationship for a little while, until I ended it a couple of years ago. Which resulted in a 2 1/2 year old daughter.
I have six children, and they are stronger because I left.
Many people believe that abuse doesn't affect the children, but it does. Sadly, it affected my oldest daughter who is 19. She was abusive to her bf, and has seeked therapy because she had struck her boyfriend who is 18. It was a play slap, but it was still a slap.
I just wanted to send HUGE *hugs* for all of the women who have been in my situation and those who still are. Stay strong!
Smiles,
Lori
